Microsoft will discontinue Skype for Business Online by July 31, 2021

Written by Michael Freuler | Dec 9, 2021 6:30:00 AM

Skype for Business Online can still be used with all functions without restrictions until July 31, 2021, after which the service will no longer be usable. Microsoft therefore recommends that all remaining Skype for Business Online customers switch to Microsoft Teams. Not affected by the discontinuation are the Skype private service and the Skype for Business server products.

Upgrade From Skype For Business To Microsoft Teams

Skype for Business Online has been a valuable tool for people around the world since its launch, creating new opportunities for business communications. Microsoft Teams now represents the next chapter in that vision. MS Teams offers not only the features familiar from Skype for Business, but also many more that make it easier, especially for employees to collaborate within companies. MS Teams combines chat, video, telephony and simultaneous collaboration on documents in a single, integrated collaboration solution.

When To Switch From Skype For Business To Microsoft Teams?

Businesses facing the departure of Skype now have no time to lose. They should immediately start making plans for team implementation and employee training, as well as find a suitable Microsoft partner who can help them with the implementation.
